Please Excuse My Excuses

Filed under: — Kate @ 10:27 am EST

Sorry for the lack of content here as of late. I’ve been struggling with a combination of increased work load, diminished brain power (due to the increased work load), and overall lack of inspiration. I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things as soon as possible. Stay tuned….

Sorry for the downtime today, guys. They were upgrading the servers and broke SQL for a while there. Looks like we’re back in business now.

Working Girl

Filed under: — Kate @ 11:39 am EST

It’s a going to be a little slow around the Landslide in my Ego this week. I have meetings every morning this week (most of them off-site), and they just kill the rest of my day, leaving very little time for much else.

Anyway, I’ll try to grace you with my presence at least once a day (probably later in the afternoon or evening).

In the mean time, tell me (and everybody else) something that most people don’t know about you.

Categorizing My Ego

Filed under: — Kate @ 3:01 pm EST

Don’t know how many of you actually use the “Categories” function on the left, but I wanted to apologize for the total lack of organization it is currently displaying. I suppose I probably use it more than anyone, but still…

Anyway, I really REALLY wanted a drop down menu, and I finally got one, but now it’s all effed up. We can’t seem to find a way to make it display the categories alphabetically. So in case anyone cares, I’m sorry, and I’ve got my bestest web whiz on the case.

I Think I Need Another Vacation

Filed under: — Kate @ 6:49 pm EST

Sorry I’m not “back” completely. I’m running on coffee and fumes at the moment. Death Valley and Vegas pics are forthcoming. No really, they are.

Filed under: — Kate @ 3:57 pm EST

Well people, that’s it for this week. I’m pretty sure they don’t have the internets in the back country of Death Valley, so you won’t be hearing from me for a few days. I know it’s hard. But you’ll get through it.

Anyway, check back next week. I’ll try post a few pictures from the trip, and if you’re lucky, maybe I’ll even have a special leg blog.

I Will Now Take Your Questions

Filed under: — Kate @ 11:03 am EST

I have about six posts started, and not enough time today to concentrate on finishing any of them. So… I thought I would take requests. Ask me anything you ever wanted to know about me. And if you’re lucky, I might answer.

Where Has All the Content Gone?

Filed under: — Kate @ 11:43 pm EST

Been a little lacking in content lately here at the Landslide in my Ego. Sorry about that. Seems like I’m not the only one though. I think the blogosphere has been on vacation this week.

It’s funny, I thought taking some time off from work (I’ve been off this whole week) would allow me to post more. But between the stress of work and the stress of the holidays, I guess I really needed to just slack off this week and relax.

Sometimes I wish I could just go back to being a kid at Christmas. So much less to worry about. This year the stress just seemed to keep coming, whether it was the frantic shopping up until the LAST MINUTE (which I hate doing, but couldn’t seem to avoid this year), or the frustration at being the ONLY person decorating the tree (okay, so my brother and Edo helped a little), or the staying up all night wrapping presents. I don’t know.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like it was all bad. It was really great to spend time with my family, and I love my parents’ house at Christmas. And all in all, I felt better at the end than I did at the beginning.

Anyway, I hope all of you are enjoying this holiday season. I’ll be back to my old prolific self before you know it.

Until then, there are a few pictures after the jump. (more…)

Will Do Again

Got another mention on Philadelphia Will Do yesterday (third paragraph). Check it out!!

And the Winner is…

Filed under: — Kate @ 2:08 pm EST

UPDATE: I was wrong about the number of speakers. DaveT still wins.

To think, he almost lost everything with his annoying imitation of Bart Simpson.

And now for the answers that have kept you on the edge of your seat:

1) How many speakers are in Kate’s apartment?

We have 32 33 speakers.

Living Room
-Main system (6 7 speakers + 1 subwoofer + 2 bass shakers mounted under the futon)
-Edo’s computer (7 speakers + 1 subwoofer)
-Kate’s computer (2 speakers + 1 subwoofer)

-Bedroom system (5 speakers + 1 subwoofer)
-Speakers connected to main system in the living room (2 speakers + 1 subwoofer)

-Speakers connected to main system in the living room (2 speakers + 1 subwoofer)

2) How many teeth are in Kate’s mouth?

I have 24 teeth.

I was missing one of my permanent (12 year?) molars on the bottom, so before I got my braces, they pulled my two remaining baby teeth, and dug out the molar that I did have, and then moved everything foward with the braces.

When it was time for my wisdom teeth to come out seven years later, the dentist decided hey, what the hell, let’s remove two extra molars on top so you have an even number of teeth gnashing against one another. So they yanked 6 teeth out of me in one fell swoop (two days before Christmas, I might add).

So here I am with only 24 teeth.

3) How many pairs of shoes does Kate own?

Well, I won’t tell you the true number since no one guessed it exactly. But DaveT came alarmingly close with his guess of 73. And that’s all I have to say about that.

I Got Nothin’

Filed under: — Kate @ 10:16 am EST

Don’t know if I have much to say today. I’m so tired—I’ve been a little under the weather this week, and I still have so much to do before the upcoming holidays, both at home and at work. And my great uncle passed away last night. So I’m not really in a typing kind of mood today. Meh.

Continue the thoughts on Christmas, please.

Oh, and enter THE CONTEST!!

CONTEST! Only Six Days Left to Enter

Landslide: Redux

Filed under: — Kate @ 2:18 pm EST

So in the next month or two, Edo and I are going to mildly redesign this here Landslide in my Ego. No major structural changes, but I have a wish list and we’re going to see what we can do. So I thought I’d see if anyone else has some input. If you have any gripes or grievances, now is the time to air them.

Unfortunately, there is one thing I cannot change, so I’ll just let you know up front: there is no way for me to allow you to edit your comments after they’ve been submitted.

WordPress does allow you to register as a user, but it’s really designed for multiple user blogs where several different people are posting. It allows you to edit your own posts (and ostensibly the comments attached to your own posts), but not your own comments on other people’s posts.

(That sort of sounds like “You can please all of the people some of the time, you can please some of the people all of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.”) Anyway, I’ll probably just get rid of the “register” feature.

For editing/deleting your comments, just email me and ask me to fix it, or post your request in another comment. Short of me giving everyone administrative access (yeah right), there is no other way.

But for everything else, let ‘er rip…
