Silly Little Survey VII: Let Us Give Thanks

Filed under: — Kate @ 2:00 pm EST

It’s time for another survey! This round is all about that day when we Americans like to stuff our faces with enough food to feed a small army.

If you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, but you can find a way to answer some of these questions in a relevant way, then go for it.

As always, you may answer truthfully or lie your ass off, whichever you prefer.

1) Will you be traveling for Thanksgiving this year?

2) Are you contributing any food to this year’s dinner, or perhaps even hosting it yourself?

3) Besides the normal turkey and stuffing, what’s the one Thanksgiving dish you must have?

4) Do you prefer a big gathering or quiet little meal?

5) Does your family have any Thanksgiving traditions?

6) What’s your favorite pie?

7) How important is football to your Thanksgiving experience?

8) Name three things for which you are thankful this year.

9) Black Friday: Stay home and eat leftovers or hit the mall running?

10) Complete this sentence: Thanksgiving is all about…

  1. Holz Says:

    1) Will you be traveling for Thanksgiving this year?
Yeppers, heading back to P-fucking-A tomorrow afternoon… hopefully the 7 hour trip will allow me to finish The Dark Tower so the twins won’t harrass me anymore about discussing it.

    2) Are you contributing any food to this year’s dinner, or perhaps even hosting it yourself?
Heh, nope. Might help open the can of cranberry sauce.

    3) Besides the normal turkey and stuffing, what’s the one Thanksgiving dish you must have?
See above. We must have cranberry sauce from the can, and it must still be in the shape of said can.

    4) Do you prefer a big gathering or quiet little meal?
Is it a cheat to say in-between. Too many people, and conversations get repeated ad nauseam, and a quiet little meal just defeats the purpose of a holiday.

    5) Does your family have any Thanksgiving traditions?
My pop goes hunting for duck/geese, and I’ve gone with him a few times.

    6) What’s your favorite pie?
    All Pumpkin. All The Time.

Very important, it’s a great binding time for the guys. Plus, we now experience it in high-def, which makes it that much better.

    7) How important is football to your Thanksgiving experience? Even though I have breasts and therefore somehow manage to be in the kitchen with my mom and sister-in-law all day, football is hugely important. At the very least, the sounds of the games mask our snarky comments and wine drinking in the kitchen.

    Another holiday season with Memere
    Starting our own traditions
    Jobs we love

  8. Melissa Says:

Well Thanksgiving is one of the few days Tom and I have together thanks to the graveyard shift he works, so yeah…I can buy that.

Still though? That was a horrible pun and therefore you deserve your 30 degree and snowing weather.

(I will still feel bad for Kate & Amber though…that weather sucks)

  9. Lushy Says:

    1) Will you be traveling for Thanksgiving this year?

    1) Will you be traveling for Thanksgiving this year?
Just the 30 or so odd miles to my parents’ house.

    2) Are you contributing any food to this year’s dinner, or perhaps even hosting it yourself?
I made sweet Italian sausage stuffing from scratch. And Holz, this one is too obvious for you to make a joke…

    3) Besides the normal turkey and stuffing, what’s the one Thanksgiving dish you must have?
    Sweet potatoes. In any form.

    4) Do you prefer a big gathering or quiet little meal?
I guess medium, like most people, though some of my best memories are from bigger gatherings. I suppose it really depends on who is there!

    5) Does your family have any Thanksgiving traditions?
Not really, but Edo and I have one that’s been going for several years…
On the day before, he gets all European and tells me that he doesn’t care about Thanksgiving, that it’s a meaningless tradition for which he has no use. And I always respond with, “Fine, if you feel that way, I don’t want you there. Stay home.” Then the next day he asks sheepishly if he can still come and I always let him.

Shop ’til you drop, baby! The leftovers will be there when you get home.
