SEPTA: Now They’re Not Even “Getting There”

Filed under: — Kate @ 3:21 pm EST

I’m sure those of you who live in my general region already know that everyone’s favorite transit monkeys went on strike today.

I can’t even begin to tell you of the fits of rage that SEPTA has caused me over the last four years, but this really takes the cake.

Philebrity says it better than I ever could…

More on this later.

I basically gave up trying to make it home tonight. Suburban Station is a zoo.

Of course, it’s hard to blame the Union when you read what management is trying to make them give up. I’d probably want to strike, too, if someone wanted me to give up maternity leave, all sick days, and take a 20% decrease in my healthcare benefits, all without a raise over the last two years. It doesn’t make my interruped commute less annoying, though. Heh!

I know, I wanted to post more about it, but didn’t really have the time. But the way I see it, SEPTA management is the problem here, so SEPTA is still to blame.

I’m lucky in that I can walk to work (though getting anywhere else is going to be a bitch). How far is your commute?

Alas, we recently moved from town out to Delco. I really wish we still lived in town — at least I could ride my bike. It’s definitely preferable to dealing with the zoo in Suburban Station every night. Grrr.

I’m now coming into work 30 minutes early and working through lunch so I only have to wait 20 minutes for a train at 3:45 instead of hours at 5pm. I’m lucky to have the flexibility to do that.

I kind of wish I could do this all the time — I kind of like getting home a little earlier!
