You know you have a caffeine problem when…

Thanks!

So in my research about the Dove Foundation I came across this lovely little post in a forum….

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God’s Law. I have learned a great deal from you and understand why you would propose and support a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage. As you said “in the eyes of God marriage is based between a man a woman.” I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination… End of debate.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God’s Laws and how to follow them…

Rudely Awakened by Intolerance

Filed under: — Kate @ 6:21 pm EST

I took the day off from work today (it was one of those use it or lose it deals) so I decided to sleep in. I was rudely awakened by the phone. It was someone from the DOVE foundation and he asked for “the lady of the house.” So I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and he started in on his speech… “Our organization is concerned with the growing amount of violence, sexual content and foul language on television today…. ” I would have loved to tell him what I thought, but I don’t have any children or grandchildren, so he wasn’t interested in my opinion. Thanks for waking me up, jackass!

Best Albums of 2004

Filed under: — Kate @ 1:32 am EST

Well, before 2004 fades too far into the past, I wanted to make a list of my favorite albums from last year. I will spare you the commentary on each individual album, but I welcome other people’s thoughts about them (positive or negative). Here they are in alphabetical order (by band), because I suck at ranking things:

An Unknown Menace…

Filed under: — Kate @ 11:57 am EST

from UrbanDictionary.com:

dodo
A bird that is thought to be extinct by the majority of humans. In reality, they are building huge weapons of mass destruction in the underworld and are waiting for the perfect time to attack the human race. They are always watching us when our backs are turned, but if we turn around, they are suddenly gone due thanks to their amazing speed.
“The time has come to surrender without any form of fighting to our new masters. ALL HAIL THE DODO!”

Love/Hate

Filed under: — Kate @ 11:16 am EST

I hate…

…winter in Philadelphia. It was 13 freaking degrees (F) when I woke up this morning.

…”reality” television. I’m so tired of hearing people complain about it. If it’s that bad, then don’t watch it!! I’ve never watched “reality” TV. EVER. And I never will.

…SEPTA. Worst and most expensive. In the country. For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure, SEPTA is our sorry excuse for a public transportation system here in Philly. Currently, they want to jack up our fares to $2.00 per token/$3.00 cash (not to mention cutting service, etc.). You people suck! For one thing, stop using tokens. And maybe you could send some observers to see how they do it in NYC.

Stop Ashlee Now!

Filed under: — Kate @ 10:40 am EST

To: Geffen/DGC Records & JT Simpson Entertainment

We, the undersigned, are disgusted with Ashlee Simpson’s horrible singing and hereby ask her to stop. Stop recording, touring, modeling and performing. We do not wish to see her again.

She cannot match the sound of her voice that can be found on her CDs, when she sings live. She simply yells the words (sometimes the wrong ones) into the mic.

We are so sickened by her “performing” that we are taking this opportunity to demand that she stop.

Sincerely,
The Undersigned

I Love Firefox

Filed under: — Kate @ 12:23 pm EST

While I’m on the subject of awesome free computer software….

At the risk of sounding like an advertisement, I have to say, if you haven’t checked out Mozilla’s new browser Firefox 1.0, you really should. The tabbed browsing alone was enough to convert me, but there’s a host of other reasons to make the switch. It’s more customizable, better at fighting spyware and other malicious material, has built in pop-up blocking, and all sorts of built in search functions (google, amazon, imdb, dictionary.com, wikipedia, to name a few). It let’s you import your old settings from Internet Explorer, too. I love it.

Picasa 2

Filed under: — Kate @ 12:16 pm EST

Tried out the new Picasa 2 software last night, and let me just say that it kicks ass. If you have a lot of digital pictures, you should check this out. In a matter of minutes, we made a slide show that looked like it could be on the history channel (you know, still pictures + moving camera = simulated action shots). It also provides great organization and easy editing tools. Anyway, it was very, very cool.
